Our Story

Big on skills, impact and community.

More than an institution.

Our results
We have produced trained and well-equipped photographers that stand out in their respective fields.
The solution
Training visual enthusiasts and empowering emerging creatives to turn their passion into purpose.
Our big idea
An easier and cost-effective learning community for visual enthusiasts.
The problem
Creative dreams often die early due to lack of access to accessible, cost-effective, value-packed visual training.

An academy that began with a dream.

Who we are.
Motive Africa Visual Academy began on August 8, 2020, when the founder and co-founder built a makeshift studio from local materials, driven by passion and limited resources. After years of practising photography, they realised the real barriers weren’t just financial—but educational.
They saw countless aspiring creatives with big dreams but little access to the tools or mentorship to bring them to life. So they made a bold decision: to not only pursue their own dreams but help others do the same. On January 18, 2021, they launched the first free photography workshop—becoming champions for the many without access to visual skills. In just three years, they’ve trained over a hundred people directly, and reached thousands more.
Today, the Academy continues its mission: to train at least 1000 successful photographers by 2030.
